Production Services Suspended Due to Campus Closure Over Coronavirus Concerns

UCF has closed its campus to students and has moved all face-to-face courses, and their related activities, to remote models until Monday, March 30th further notice due to the rising concerns related to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Because of this, the Department of Film and Mass Media is required to suspended all student-facing production services during that time period. This includes the discontinuation of all equipment requisitions and facility access until further notice.

We understand that this will significantly impact the scope and outcomes of many of the production and studio courses. While much of this is out of our control, we are working to find some alternative solutions for students who are in post-production on their film projects or who need access to video editing and media tools to complete assignments. Currently, we are working with Adobe and UCF IT to provide a Spark license to all of our students for free access to Creative Cloud services to install applications on their personal computers. Adobe estimates that this service program should be up and functioning for our students to utilize by no later than March, 19th and will remain available until May, 31st. Details on how to access this service will be sent out early next week.

Charter Communications will begin offering free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access on Monday, March 16th to students who attend colleges and universities that have shutdown due to the coronavirus. This free service will be available for the next 60 days to households with students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription. To enroll you must call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will also be waived for new student households.

University resources for students learning from home can be found on the UCF Keep Learning webpage.

Official announcements regarding this evolving issue, and its impact on the UCF community, can be found on the UCF Coronavirus FAQ webpage.
